AgeOptions is committed to empowering older adults and their caregivers – particularly when it comes to their well-being, security and safety. Our priority is to safeguard older adults from fraud, abuse and neglect, and to ensure that individual rights are recognized and protected. When they are not, we respectfully offer guidance and pursue action that is fair.

Information and Assistance

Aging and Disability Resource Center

AgeOptions is the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) for suburban Cook County with our partner, the Progress Center for Independent Living. ADRCs provide access to services and information to older adults, caregivers and people with disabilities.

Central Point of Access

AgeOptions serves as a central point of access where older adults, caregivers and people with disabilities can receive information and gain access to benefits and services.

Experienced staff respond to thousands of inquiries each year about programs and services for older adults. They directly connect callers to local senior service agencies, eliminating the need for additional phone calls.

For information and assistance, call AgeOptions at (708)383-0258.

Elder Abuse, Neglect and Financial Exploitation Intervention and Prevention

Specially trained case managers at agencies designated by AgeOptions and the Illinois Department on Aging investigate reports of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation of older adults in order to resolve problems and arrange for appropriate assistance.

To report suspected elder abuse, neglect or financial exploitation, call the Illinois Department on Aging’s Elder Abuse Hotline at (866)800-1409. Reports may be made anonymously.

Information is also available by calling AgeOptions at (708)383-0258.

iFAST - The Illinois Financial Abuse Specialist Team

iFAST is a multi-disciplinary collaborative dedicated to preventing elder financial exploitation, the most commonly reported form of abuse against older adults. The multi-disciplinary team uses a collaborative approach to detect, reduce and respond to incidents of financial exploitation of vulnerable adults.

iFAST bridges gaps between social service and community-based organizations, county and state law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, legal services and state agencies. It combats elder financial exploitation through case consultation, community education, provider training and rapid response.
